The country of Bach is not average indeed. German philosophers of the romanticism considered music as the highest form of expression and music soon became a more essential part of the daily life than anywhere else. With serious devotion music lovers attend the innumerable concerts and opera performances which are generously subsidized by the state and other public bodies. Not to forget: the majority of the most popular composers is of German origin, as are the most renowned instrument makers and music publishers; too many to be enumerated here.
